We’re ready for Spring… and brownies!

Woof! (meaning “Hi!” in my language). Gage here… “Oh boy, the weather has been awesome in Colorado lately. It feels like an early Spring, and I’m lovin’ it. Papa has taken me pheasant hunting quite a few times this year, so I’ll miss doing that until next Fall. Oh well… no big deal. I’m excited about most anything at all. I just love BEING.

Woofy! (meaning “Hi!” but with a little more enthusiasm than Gage). Sammy here… well, Mama is makin’ mint frosted brownies for Papa. I’m sure neither one of them will share with me. They never share their chocolate, and that makes me really sad. Don’t they realize that if I tried it, I would love it?! Good grief! What do I have to do to convince them?

Hi-ya! Gage and Sam here. Not much going on in our doggy world, so we’ll just mention that Mama and Papa are making fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. tonight for dinner. They know we LOVE chicken, so we hope they won’t be stingy and not share. Wish WE were human!!

Hi, Gage here…

Well, Papa took me pheasant hunting 3 times so far this season. This weekend Mama convinced Papa to actually take a picture with me and a bird. Only one this weekend, but that’s okay. I love getting out in the field… BIRD HUNTING ROCKS!

Hi – Gage here. I don’t really have any interesting news to report. Just doing all the usual doggy things… sleeping, eating, pooping, and runnin’ around like a spaz (most of the time). Papa says bird hunting season is just around the corner, so I know I’ll be able to get out in the field and find some birds (if I’m lucky) this fall. I LOVE bird hunting! I don’t always find them, but I love to just get out and run the fields. It makes me so happy! Sammy is a slow poke, so I don’t even know why he comes along. He’s just a little poo dog – not a hunter, like me. Well, I guess he enjoys getting out and about too. I have to admit – he DOES have a great sniffer, so it’s too bad he’s such a pampered pooch. He’s very prissy about his feet too. He doesn’t like to get them wet or dirty. HAAAAAAAA!!! I’m not sure he’s a real dog. I think he’s a kitty cat.

Mama’s been singing me a song… “Mr. Sam Sam… bring me a dream (bong-bong-bong-bong), make him the cutest “little doggy” I’ve ever seen… give him two lips like roses and clover… then tell him that his lonesome nights are over! Sam Sam, I’m so alone… don’t got no doggy to call my own… please turn on your magic beam… Mr. Sam Sam bring me a dream! (bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong…)

Man – she sure can sing good doggy songs! By the way – I’m feeling so great these days. My legs are feeling new and strong! I’m so glad Mama and Papa had the surgeon give me new legs! Gage doesn’t have to tippy-toe around me anymore. He’s really glad. He’s too busy to give Mama thoughts to journal, but he says hi anyway… more later!

Hi, Sammy here again…

I had my surgery, and I’m doing great! Well, I am now… it was a really tough recovery for the first week or two. I was miserable, and needed help with a sling to walk for almost 2 weeks. Mama’s boss let her take me to work with her those first several days after surgery, and I was such a good boy! No one heard a peep out of me. I wasn’t really feeling well, so didn’t feel especially perky. Anyhow, it’s been almost a month now, and I’m getting better and better each day. I’m starting to trot around and get playful again. Mama won’t let me jump or run yet. The vet says at least 8 weeks before I can think about that! My fur is growing back and I’m feeling handsome again!

More later… BTW — Gage is still a crazy goofball, and he has great legs! He says hi!

Hi, Sammy here…

Mama sure disappointed me today. She took me and my big brother, Gage, to the vet this morning for our annual checkup and vaccination gig. Gage and I were stressed out over it, and didn’t like it ONE LITTLE BIT!! Then — right after that, she took me (Gage didn’t have to go — no fair!) to the Russian guy that grooms me. He’s nice enough, and makes me look fabulous (except for this time), but it’s not my idea of a fun day. Mama told him to shave me very short — shorter than my summer cut, so I look pretty goofy right now. I’m glad it’s over though. Two stressful appointments in one day is MUCH too MUCH. I understand I’ll be having surgery on my hind legs next week, so that sounds fun. Mama is scared for me to have the surgery, but has been told that it’ll be like having brand new legs after I’ve healed. Her and Papa said they should change my name to “Lieutenant Dan” (as in Forrest Gump), since I’ll have “new legs, Lieutenant Dan!”… more later.

Mama and Papa left us for 4 days! What the… ?!&!! We didn’t like it one bit. Our neighbor came over to feed us everyday, but we still didn’t appreciate it. We barked at her and said, “Where’s our Mama and Papa!?!”
When Mama and Papa finally got home, we jumped with joy. We were so excited, we could barely contain ourselves. We thought they skipped out to Mexico or something. Next time, they better take us with them!
